Our Mission

A Place you can Realize your Potential

If you have ever felt a thirst for action, a drive to do passionate battle with others, without wanting to risk long-term injury, then our dojo is your new home. We at W.A.M.A. teach our students how to manipulate historic weaponry such as swords, staffs, and sai to a degree of mastery not taught anywhere else in the surrounding area. We encourage teamwork and competition simultaneously, creating a friendly environment that feels more that a club than a school. Safety is considered above all else, and we have multiple measures in place to ensure that none of our students are at any risk during our teachings.

What We Offer:

The dojo has several different services available to the public. These include lessons, loaner gear, tournaments, and get-togethers. Membership costs are either $28 month or $300 yearly.

Skill

Lessons

We teach how to wield several different weapons, including longswords, katana, tonfa, sai, staffs, and tessen. We grade our students similarly to karate, with sash around the arm or weapon being used in place of belts. We encourage our students to gain a moderate level of mastery over at least one weapon within their first year of membership.

Safety

Loaner Gear

We offer pre-purchased safety gear to any members of the dojo. This equipment makes it neigh impossible for any accidents to occur during training and sparring, and thus is a necessity for anyone interested in participating in activities.

Competition

Tournaments

To those who have been members of the dojo for 6 months or longer, we offers bi-annual tournaments which any student may register for at no cost. The tournaments will involve more intense sparring that what is typically done at the dojo, but there is still no risk of injury so long as rules are followed and gear is worn. In addition, some tournaments may involve students forming teams and working collaboratively.

Collaboration

Get-togethers

Pot-lucks, game nights, open invitation days, and similar events will periodically be hosted by the dojo. This is to encourage the strengthening of bonds between our members, as well as take away from the possible monotony of training.
